Update Regarding House Bill 1405

If you would like to write a letter(s) of concern regarding this bill, a list of Representative’s and their addresses is attached for your convenience.

Local Government House Committee Members

Attention New Wilmington Borough Residents:

Latest Update:

Good afternoon,

The House Local Government Committee will be holding a public hearing to discuss Representative Aaron Bernstein’s HB 1405 PN 1765, which makes changes to Title 8 (Boroughs and Incorporated Towns) for municipalities that sell electricity. I would like to extend an invitation to you and your organization to attend and participate in the hearing. For your convenience, I have enclosed a copy of the current bill herein.

The public hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Room 205, Ryan Office Building, Main Capital complex, in Harrisburg, PA. The Main Capital complex address is as follows: 501 N 3rd St, Harrisburg, PA 17120.

Each presenter is asked to limit their testimony to 5-10 minutes.  Following testimony, there will be a period of time for questions by members of the committee. We would also appreciate if each participant would submit a copy of their prepared testimony by Tuesday, February 6

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact myself (twmiller@pahousegop.com or 717-260-6413) or Alex Young (ayoung@pahousegop.com or 717-787-2801).

Best,

Tom

I have spoken to our Representative Parke Wentling as well as Vance Oakes, Manager of Grove City Borough and President of the Pennsylvania Municipal Electric Association, who have both been extremely helpful.

The process requires the House of Representatives to have the bill voted on in the Local Government Committee with a majority of members voting in favor to send the bill to the House floor for consideration by all the State Representatives.  Assuming it is approved by the full House, the bill is then transferred to the Senate where the process starts over with a committee hearing in the Senate.

New Wilmington Borough is committed to working hard to protect our community interests.

I would encourage you to show your support to oppose HB1405 by contacting your representatives.
