The Borough of New Wilmington is seeking applicants for the position of general municipal maintenance.
Performs duties in general maintenance, repair, and construction work assignments in support of public work projects; performs work on city streets, storm drainage systems, sewer systems, water systems, electrical distribution systems and other city property facilities.
Employee should have knowledge of construction practices, be able to drive all Borough vehicles and operate all Borough equipment in a safe and productive manner. Borough equipment includes heavy and light equipment such as: backhoe, dump truck, tractors, fork truck, street sweeper, jackhammer, chainsaw, chipper, and lawn maintenance equipment.

Work is frequently performed around hazardous machinery and can involve some threat to personal safety if safety standards are not observed. Work is occasionally performed in inclement weather. Additionally, work involves responding to emergencies on a twenty-four-hour basis, especially during periods of inclement weather.
Must be able to work in confined spaces and heights, able to lift over 100 pounds and withstand prolonged exposure (as long as 12 hours) to extreme weather conditions. Employee must be able to see, hear, walk, climb stairs and ladders. Employee must be able to follow oral and written instruction and work both alone and well with a team. The employee is accountable for all the assigned materials, tools, and equipment. It is the employee’s responsibility for the implementation of safety regulations.
Minimum Acceptable Training and Experience:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Current and valid PA motor vehicle Driver’s license with the ability to obtain a commercial vehicle operator’s license (Class B) issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within three months of employment.
- Construction industry experience of at least one year
- Equipment operator (preferred)
