Lifeguard

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons at the Borough pool facility. This position monitors swimming activities, enforces pool rules and safety regulations, and responds quickly and effectively to emergencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise swimming activities to ensure the safety of all patrons.
  • Enforce all pool policies, guidelines, and safety procedures.
  • Warn swimmers of improper activities or potential hazards.
  • Respond immediately to emergencies and rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning.
  • Administer CPR, first aid, and other emergency care as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe pool environment.
  • Maintain current certifications as required.
  • Make quick, sound decisions in emergency situations and take appropriate action

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current Lifeguard Certification (required).
  • Current CPR Certification (required).
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to swim proficiently and perform water rescues.
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while monitoring pool activities.
  • Ability to lift and assist patrons as needed in emergency situations.

Required for all pool positions:

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania Criminal Background Clearance
  • FBI Criminal History Clearance (Fingerprint for applicants over 18; Parent form if under 18)
  • Work Permit (if under 18)

Work Schedule:
Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on pool schedule.
